Random movie talky stuff.

Re: The secure Avatar gossip page

Eh, while the environment was fucking awesome I'd much rather live in my post-apocalyptic settings. Zombies are optional. At least that way I can see when something is coming to snack on my man-parts.

Further promoting the theory that a man's brain is in his privates.

Re: The secure Avatar gossip page

Unobtanium is a reference to writers using it as the generic placeholder for whatever drives the story along in screenplays ie hostage, ransom money, el dorado, white castle burgers. Its use in the movie is either a "fuck you" to writers everywhere or someone was -really- lazy.

Re: The secure Avatar gossip page

the main problem with unobtanium is that it was first used in the core, literally as a joke name for a material some backwater American invented that was ridiculously hard to make.

Re: The secure Avatar gossip page

I want to see that so bad. It looks awesome!
Too bad I missed "The Road", similar vein of post-apocalypse without insane special effects and outrageous monsters. Though the Road has been described to me as "the anti feel-good movie". Hmm.

*claps* They filmed, like, the last portion of the movie here in my home town! Unfortunately, they had the beaches they were filming on locked up tighter than Fort Freaking Knox but I still think it's cool that of all the places they could have filmed, they picked us.

>_>

<_<

Still haven't seen it, though.

And yeah, I wanna see Book of Eli, too. Looks good from the few previews I saw. May have to see if I can get my compatriots to go when I can, heh.

Re: Random movie talky stuff.

Eli looks great and I only watch the second half of Titanic, screw the love story.

Re: Random movie talky stuff.

Well, for all the people out there that don't know yet...

Avatar is a remake of Pochahontas.

Some people come to this new place, looking for gold/diamonds, there's native people there, a man falls in love with one of the treehuggers, and he manages to get a few of his fellow men to stand up to their bosses and so on...

Yeah, said that too :)

I told this to my friend and he said "Yeah, it's Pochahontas but with pterodactyls attacking helicopters, which I always thought was the one thing Pochahontas was missing..."

I fucking love me some Blunty.

But yeah, the plot seriously needed some fucking editors or someone with a brain to look it over and realize that it was riddled with cliches every which way.

Re: Random movie talky stuff.

Well, I saw Book of Eli last night, and I have to say it was fucking amazing. Now I'm waiting for , and .

Re: Random movie talky stuff.

Gonna see Book of Eli this friday probably. I'm also waiting on the Manliest Movie Ev- I mean, The Expendables. And Kick Ass looks funny too.

Re: Random movie talky stuff.

Friend offered the opportunity to go see Book of Eli next week. Knowing this, I'm expecting to work all day Sunday, because that's just the way work fucks me over. Every time. We'll see. Glad to hear a "fucking amazing" coming out of it, though. That makes me look forward to it more.

Re: Random movie talky stuff.

3 days = No double.

Dear Hollywood,

Granted, okay, I'm not as attached to the Tekken franchise as I am, say, SF or MK, but this just looks dark, confusing, and total popcorn fare. I may, however, get the soundtrack.

Yet another real-life situation that it can be tied too. Big whoop.
On the other hand...
*chokes Di$ney for that movie*
Specifically the second one.

Re: Random movie talky stuff.

its not a remake of Pocahontas, its a remake of dances with wolves.

Re: Random movie talky stuff.

it's Space Cat-Smurfs VS Giant Robots: The Motion Picture

At the very least I don't think this film had a big budget, so if I ever watch it, I'll probably judge it based on how well they did with the funds available to them when they shot it.

That said, yes, people need to be careful if they're going to make 'movie adaptations' based off of video games - among other things - that weren't that heavy on the plot to begin with. Too much 'guess work' usually takes place that kills things, or they try to hard to 'modernize' the story and fuck it royally, or SOMETHING just goes horribly wrong with the plot that nobody notices until AFTER everything's said and done.

Hell, even the movies based off of games/books/ w/e that DO have a good plot usually get fucked over by crappy money-grubbing assholes.
You all know who you are. Yes, I'm looking at you.

Re: Random movie talky stuff.

At least it isn't Uwe Boll.

Re: Random movie talky stuff.

Yes, but then it would have an excuse.

Although that was the first question I asked my friend when she linked me. "Uwe?" "Don't think so." I do, however, find it amusing that the stunt coordinator is one Eric Norris. (First name debatable, last name for certain.) We were both like "Hmmm...Relation?"

Re: Random movie talky stuff.

I'm still waiting for a Rainbow Six movie. I mean, when it went from book to game it exploded huge!

Re: Random movie talky stuff.

There was a trailer for a movie I cant remember the name for when I saw Book of Eli, which looked basically like MW2 the movie.
