The Plot is somethig that has been used a lot, and has a lot of historical context. But i felt that it was a great twist, having the guy in the wheelchair.

Not to mention there is nothing that is new anymore, merely new twists on old designs.

Re: The secure Avatar gossip page

I kinda liked the plot, yes I realized it was like a lot of other movies, but it was fitting for what's going on in the world. People easily simplifying stuff into "Us vs. Them". So many things these days politically and otherwise have completely skewed off track and now instead of trying to find the best outcome it's more about making sure "they" don't win.

I saw that as the commander's motivation, he had the weapons, he had the superior firepower. If he let them make demands to what they did on the planet then "They" would win.

I'd say the plot was rather predictable, however the visuals... That stuff was generated using technology that is now obsolete and yet it still look borderline costume/make-up as opposed to cg at points. The main thing I'm thinking now is: if we can make stuff look that good now, think about how it will look in a couple of years.

Funny that that's always been my train of thought on Clash of the Titans. I remember thinking about how phenominal the effects were for the time (especially Medusa) and always wondered what would happen if they remade it. Guess I'm going to find out when it gets released.

And Sam Worthington plays Perseus. I've been very happy with Worthington's acting abilities in everything from the modern day rendition of MacBeth he was in, to Avatar, and Terminator: Salvation.

Also, the glimpses of Medusa I saw in the teaser trailer look pretty good in my opinion.

Speaking of Medusa, there's another movie coming out called Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Theif. When I saw the posters and such I thought it kind of a Harry Potterish knock off, and after seeing the trailer, it still could very well be, but it looks pretty good. I'll probly end up seeing that.

Re: The secure Avatar gossip page

You want to talk Harry Potter knock off, Disney's doing the "Sorcerer's Apprentice" as a live-action movie (with Nick Cage as "The Sorceror.") Even if the story was out long before Potter *laughs* Also, did not see a trailer for Lightning Thief, but from what I know of the books, it's supposed to be a phenominal story. One of those "If you're done with HP, read these" kind of thing, but I've had people that eat the things up. May have to sit down with them one of these days.

Those books do look interesting, but if you want something awesome, Read "The Hunger Games".

I love how marvelously offtopic we are xD

Re: The secure Avatar gossip page

I actually believe someone said in the first page that this should be about all movies... so that a new topic doesn't pop up everytime a new movie comes out.

Speaking of which, anyone seen "Brothers". It looks really good.

what i heard from someone who saw it, is that most of the movie is watching this guy get tortured.

While I haven't seen it, I doubt I'd call it nothing. PTSD ain't nothing.

Re: The secure Avatar gossip page

Just got around to seeing it.

1. I am dissapointed by the lack of porn in this thread.

2. The colonel was awesome. Seriously, probably my fav character due to his enourmous brass balls. They could be preserved and used to sustain the dying earth.

3. I concur with the whole "Sure, it was good, buy my balls didn't explode" summary. I don't feel a need to tell 7 people to go see it.

4. I am dissapointed by the lack of porn in this thread.

5. My eyes are kinda sore, yeah. I need to remember I hate 3d movies.

6. Seriously guys, post some fucking smut.

Ah yes, I definately want to see Sherlock Holmes, I mean who better to play a cocaine addict than Downey. Not to mention Sherlock Holmes being one of my favorite fictional characters.
Just saw this yesterday, it was very good. The casting choices were indeed brilliant.
