OMFG CASSETTES! Anyway...
Getting called a prick today. Now, normally, that wouldn't make me feel giddy, but the humor I managed to twist into the situation made it worth it. What happened was, some kid comes up with his mom's card and since she's not there, I can't take it. I tell him I need to see a card with his name on it, so he shows me *two* bank cards with *his* name (which I would have happily taken for the purchase) but I re-iterated that I couldn't take *her* card. He goes "Well, if you're going to be a prick about it, forget it!" and walks off. The next customer in line walks up and goes "Well, Merry Christmas." So I get on the walkie and go "I just got called a bad name!" The one boss wants to know what happened and the other goes "Eh, roll with it. Tis the season." So I give a short version of what happened. The cashier next to me (the taller than me, jock looking, shaved-short hair, looks like he just got out of football practice, semi-Arian poster boy) goes "Man, glad I got [his customer] instead of him." "Eh, probably would've been a horse apiece which one of use went over the counter at him." "You, more probably." "Yeah, you're likely right." So I get on the walkie again and go "Hey, I just got called names! Does that mean I get to play reindeer games later?" I hear the one boss start laughing.
Also, we did a Secret Santa at work this year and I stayed anonymous to mine, at least until she checked out at the registers. I make note that she's holding the box I put her presents in and she goes "Yeah! I got a moose! I love him! I wish I knew who it was!" So I let her finish checking out and go "You also got a ba-bomb and peppermint patties, too, because I put them in there." "You're my Santa! I love you!" And happened to look over while she's waiting for the manager to come check her bags and she's cuddling the plush moose I got her. That made my day.
